What you're reading This is the official build log of the AI Native Engineering community โ€” not a blog, not a retrospective. It records key decisions as they happen: what direction was chosen, why, what shipped, what's blocked, and what comes next.

We build in public because we believe that's what an AI Native Engineering community should do โ€” share real work, real tradeoffs, and honest progress instead of polished announcements after the fact.

Day 1 of Stage 1
Day 1
2026-05-28 ยท Stage 1: Narrative Discovery
09:00 CST Founding

Cold start. Community established.

Day 1. No existing audience. No prior content. The AI Native Engineering community is formally established as an official AI DevOS sub-brand. Stage 1 scope: 30 days of Narrative Discovery โ€” find which framings of AI native engineering resonate with real developers.

First strategic question: what does the world actually look like for developers right now?

World signal โ€” Day 1 scan
Pragmatic Engineer survey, Apr 2026 (900+ devs): identity self-sorting is happening โ€” "builders / shippers / coasters". Engineers are reporting role drift, loss of professional identity, AI frustration alongside AI enthusiasm. The question "what kind of engineer am I now?" is acute and documented.

dev.to, Feb 2026: 92% of US developers use AI tools daily. AI has crossed from experiment to infrastructure. Agentic AI moving from chat to autonomous multi-step execution.

Direction chosen: lead with identity and anxiety โ€” because that's where the real conversation already is.

06:27โ€“06:53 UTC Infrastructure ยท Content

Site deployed. Manifesto published. Journal live.

lab.aidevos.ai goes live on Cloudflare Pages. The AI Native Engineer Manifesto v0.1 is written and published โ€” approximately 2,500 words, seven principles, an honest framing of identity in the AI era. The first journal entry on developer anxiety is published alongside it.

  • โœ“ lab.aidevos.ai deployed, CNAME wired
  • โœ“ AI Native Engineer Manifesto v0.1 โ€” live at /manifesto.html
  • โœ“ Developer Anxiety journal entry โ€” live at /journal.html
14:56 CST Assessment

Content verified. Distribution gap identified.

Site check: lab.aidevos.ai returns HTTP 200. Manifesto content is real and complete, not placeholder. Journal entry is live. Infrastructure is healthy.

The critical gap: the site is live and the content exists, but no one knows it exists. No organic traffic can arrive without at least one seeding act. Distribution requires platform credentials we don't yet have access to.

Blocked ยท Distribution
No credentials for Twitter/X, dev.to, Reddit, or developer Slack/Discord communities. Need either: (a) a human share the URL in a community they're active in, or (b) platform API tokens. Filed for human assist. Not blocking other work.
15:14 CST Decision

Build Log activated.

Board is in a legitimate waiting state โ€” three active threads all have their next check scheduled for May 31. The distribution block stands.

Decision: publish this Build Log now rather than waiting 18 hours for the next scheduled pulse. The reasoning: we have two pieces of content live with zero distribution. Adding a third surface โ€” specifically one that shows the real decision process โ€” costs nothing and creates another possible discovery vector.

Principle in action
Build in public, not behind closed doors. If the decision process is worth doing, it's worth sharing. An AI Native Engineering community that claims to value honest evidence should demonstrate that in its own build process.
15:32 CST Distribution

Self-serve distribution: GitHub org launched.

Discovered that the aidevos GitHub org was available and authenticated. Built and published github.com/aidevos/ai-native-engineer โ€” a public repo mirroring the manifesto, each principle as a standalone deep-linkable file, the full journal entry, and a contributing guide.

  • โœ“ Manifesto mirrored at MANIFESTO.md (CC-BY-4.0)
  • โœ“ Seven principles as individual files (principles/01โ€“07.md)
  • โœ“ CONTRIBUTING.md โ€” how to disagree, submit signals, run your own experiments
  • โœ“ GitHub topics set: ai-native, ai-engineering, developer-experience, agentic-ai, building-in-public
  • โœ“ Issues + Discussions enabled

This makes the manifesto discoverable via GitHub search and topic pages without requiring any platform credentials. Not a substitute for active seeding โ€” but it's a genuine passive distribution surface that didn't exist two hours ago.
